Phone Service
All pages of the phone bill that include the charges, as well as any explanations of the charges and discounts, must be attached.
Only the cost of the service can be reimbursed.
Additional fees that do not relate to the cost of service, such as devices, equipment, and protection plans, are not covered by Self-Direction.
Taxes and government surcharges can be reimbursed.
If phone service is part of a package, only the cost of the phone service can be reimbursed.
Discounts on phone services must be deducted from the Phone charge.
Only the individual’s portion can be reimbursed.
Landline service must be divided by the total number of household members. (If the individual lives independently, then the full cost of the landline service can be reimbursed.)
Example: The Individual, their parents, and the Individual’s sibling (even if they are under the age of 18) live in the home. This is a total of 4 household members. The landline reimbursement must be divided by 4, and only 1/4 reimbursed, since that is the Individual’s portion.
