Live-In Caregiver (LIC)

Requires prior approval and clearance from FI HR prior to providing services as well as for the duration of the service.

The Individual must be living independently. Additional requirements can be found on page 22 of the OPWDD Self-Direction Guidance for Providers (Click Here).

The monthly total amount to reimburse between all 3 LIC budget categories does not exceed the maximum amount allowed per region. See the OPWDD Self-Direction Guidance for Providers, page 64, Attachment F (Click Here).

The “Paid To” (i.e. reimbursee) can only be made to the Individual/Designee, never to the LIC directly.

LIC Rent - is processed automatically monthly by a designated FI Housing Coordinator.

LIC Utilities - follows the applicable OTPS utility guidelines.

LIC Food - only for food that is reasonably attributed to the LIC.
