Q. How do I know if my child is eligible for Yedei Chesed’s services? A. A Yedei Chesed intake coordinator will do an assessment of your child’s eligibility to determine if s/he qualifies, according to guidelines established by the State of New York.

Q. How do I apply for Yedei Chesed’s different programs? A. The appropriate applications can be obtained simply by calling our office.

Q. Does each program require its own application? A. Yes, a different application will have to be completed for each program.

Q. Upon submission of the application, how is the approval of my funds for my child determined? A. Allocation of funds for each applicant is determined by the careful consideration of the members of our panel. They prioritize all requests, based on need and available funding.

Q. How often do the members of your panel convene to review and determine funding for those applications submitted to your office? A. On a regular basis, applications are reviewed at which time a decision to allocate available funds is decided. Thereafter, written notification is promptly sent to recipient.

Q. Is there a deadline that must be met? A. Yes. You will receive notification by mail that will specify the deadline when Yedei Chesed must receive your paperwork. If one fails to submit the documentation needed within the requisite time frame, moneys awarded will be redistributed to other families.

Q. Can I assume that my child will be accepted as soon as I apply? A. Unfortunately, no. Due to numerous requests, many applicants have to be placed on a wait list. However, please be assured that you will be informed as soon as there is an available opportunity.

Q. Do I have to send along food with my child? A. No, at the Sunday, legal holiday and after school programs, Yedei Chesed provides nutritious snacks and drinks. At our summer day camp, lunch and snacks are also provided.

Q. Who arranges transportation from my child’s school to the after school program? A. If your child receives transportation services through East Ramapo Central School District, our program director will gladly make the necessary arrangements. If a private bus company transports your child, you are required to make the appropriate arrangements directly from school.

Q. At the conclusion of the after school program, is transportation provided to bring my child back home? A. Yes, the program’s bus or van will bring your child home.

Q. Who determines which families will attend the retreat? A. A committee establishes a priority list of clients to be invited. We attempt to alternate places to families who haven’t attended recently.

Q. Do parents incur any costs for the weekend retreat? A. No, only a nominal fee to guarantee your reservation.
